It's crisp, refreshing and the sap in the birch trees will start to run soon. People will be tapping birch to make syrup soon. Birch are a beautiful, sacred tree. Their bark is used to make baskets and was used to make wigwams, the traditional homes of some of my ancestors. Today, when I look up at them, I feel like I'm home.
